The internationally popular Vienna-based fashion brand WHYAT has designed an Equal Play fashion item together with win2day. Athletes, local celebrities and influencers were thrilled at the presentation on February 20 at the WHYAT store in Vienna.

February 20 was Equal Play Day – the day from which women’s sports are, statistically speaking, no longer seen. Only 14% of Austrian sports reporting is devoted to women’s sports. The Equal Play Initiative of win2day, the gaming site of Austrian Lotteries, aims to change this.

To shine a spotlight on this important topic, win2day joined forces with Viennese fashion brand WHYAT to design a special fashion item that was presented to the public on February 20 at the WHYAT store in Vienna. The white Equal Play Day jersey by WHYAT symbolises the invisibility of women’s sport in the media.

Designer Philipp Ledl had this to say: “We support this important initiative with a completely white jersey – the WHYAT Invisible Jersey. The white writing on white material is intended to symbolise the invisibility of women’s sport in media reporting. Although women are achieving the same things and making history in the world of sports, they receive only a fraction of the attention. With this jersey, we’re making exactly that visible – by showing the invisible.”

The jersey is made in Italy from recycled polyester – a blend of high fashion and performance. It carries a strong message, but at the same time remains wearable and elegant. The fabric is particularly soft, which makes it suitable not only for sports but also for everyday wear.

Also in attendance at the event, full of enthusiasm for the “Invisible Jersey”, were Dancing Star Conny Kreuter, singer Virginia Ernst, beach volleyball players Dorina and Ronja Klinger, tennis legends Thomas Muster and Jürgen Melzer, actress Julia Cencig, motorsports expert Corinna Kamper, ski ace Nici Schmidhofer, national ice hockey team players Antonia Matzka and Charlotte Wittich, Austria’s no. 1 in wheelchair tennis, Nico Langmann, the national basketball team players Simone Sill and Rebekka Kalaydjiev, national American football team player Conny Pripfl, Austria’s top influencer Karin Teigl and Kerstin and Manuel Ortlechner.

win2day wins State PR Prize for Equal Play Day Initiative

The initiative launched by win2day in 2024 had already received a prestigious award the previous evening: the Austrian State Prize for Public Relations in the “Social Commitment and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” category. The jury explained that the initiative sets a strong example of gender fairness in sports and draws attention to a highly topical issue with a clear message and focus.
