Equal Play Day marks the day of the year when, statistically speaking, women’s sports completely disappears from domestic media – as compared to men’s sports, which receives much greater visibility.

With the Equal Play initiative, win2day – the gaming site of Austrian Lotteries – is drawing attention to the imbalance in the visibility of women’s and men’s sports and focuses on measures to reduce this discrepancy. Only around 14 percent of all sports reporting in Austria is dedicated to women’s sports. And disabled sports only receive around 1 percent. More visibility for women’s sports means more sponsorship, more professionalisation, more young talents.

Austria-wide campaign for more visibility of women’s sports

win2day, an equal opportunities initiator, will never tire of drawing attention to this imbalance in the reach via media. From February 10 to 23, posters throughout Austria drew attention to the topic of “More visibility for women’s sports” – in combination with quotes intended to rouse people to care about this issue.

2025 State Prize for PR

In recognition of this strong signal for gender equality in sports, the initiative was also honoured in the “Social Commitment and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” category of the Austrian PR State Prize this year.
