Accessibility connects: WACA certification for company website
The Austrian Lotteries website, lotterien.at, has been awarded the Web Accessibility Certificate Austria (WACA) by TÜV Austria.
Digital products must be fully usable by everyone, regardless of disabilities, comprehension, or method for accessing the content. Austrian Lotteries is proud to announce that the fully accessible website www.lotterien.at has now also been awarded the WACA Bronze certificate, confirming that the web content is highly accessible.
Seal of quality for accessible web design
This official certificate from the WACA initiative and the independent certification body TÜV Austria is intended for German and English-language websites throughout Europe. Accessibility on the Internet only works if guidelines for design and development are adhered to. It must be possible for websites to be perceived, operated, understood, and used robustly with assistive technologies. These requirements are defined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at three levels – A, AA, AAA. To be certified, the WCAG 2.2 AA Conformance Level criteria must be met.
The Bronze certificate received by the lotterien.at company website proves that the website is basically accessible and does not exclude anyone from using it:
• The website meets most of the WCAG 2.2 – AA criteria.
• The basic functionality is fully accessible to all users.
• Some advanced/optional features that are not essential to the use of the website are inaccessible to some users.
The internet should be a natural part of everyday life for everyone, so that everyone can access the same information and services. Assuming social responsibility for the people of Austria is part of Austrian Lotteries’ corporate philosophy. WACA certification is an important step on our ongoing journey towards greater equality of opportunity.
